Prothiaden (Generic)

Generic Prothiaden (Dosulepin) is a tricyclicanti depressant (TCA) medication that is made to treat several anxiety and behavioral disorders. Generic Prothiaden is most often used to treat symptoms of depression and additional symptoms of depression, including: anxiety, sleep disorders, and loss of appetite. Generic Prothiaden may also be used to treat certain chronic pain disorders. Consult your doctor before taking Generic Prothiaden for either above mentioned conditions, or alternative uses.

Take Generic Prothiaden orally. Take dosage of this treatment at the same time. Generic Prothiaden may be taken either as a single dose in the evening or in 2 - 3 doses throughout the day. Contact your doctor for the precise instructions that apply to you. Dosage of this medication may change during treatment depending on the severity of your condition and the progression of your illness.

Do not stop taking this medication without first speaking to your doctor, as suddenly halting treatment may worsen your condition.

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following side-effects associated with an allergic reaction: hives, shortness of breath, swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face.

Stop taking Generic Prothiaden and seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
Fever, inability to focus, severe skin rash, severe drowsiness, or jaundice.

Before taking Generic Prothiaden, consult your doctor if you have a history of any of the following medical conditions:
heart disease, heart attack, heart block, porphyrias, arrhythmias, kidney disease, liver problems, thyroid disease, urinary retention, glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, epilepsy, phaeochromocytoma, schizophrenia, or any other mental illnesses.

Avoid drinking alcohol while being treated with this medication.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant before taking this medication. Do not take Generic Prothiaden if you are breast feeding.

Always read the ingredients before taking this or any other medication to ensure that there are no elements that may elicit an allergic reaction.

Do not combine Generic Prothiaden with Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). There should be a two week period before your last treatment of MAOIs and this medication.

Contact your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications before adding Generic Prothiaden to your treatment plan:
Sedatives, sedating antihistamines, any antibiotics (including Rifampicin), any medication to treat HIV/AIDS (including Ritonavir), SSRI antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, Thyroid hormones, blood thinners (including Warfarin), general anesthetics, any antihistamines to treat allergies, any medication to treat an irritable bowel or IBS, any drugs for bladder weakness, any anxiolytics, opioid analgesics, hypnotics, adrenaline, methylphenidate, noradrenaline, cimetidine, alpha blockers, any medications to treat high blood pressure, any medication used to treat enlarged prostate glands, rifampicin, calcium channel blockers, pentamidine, contraceptives containing oestrogen, any diuretics for treating high blood pressure and heart failure, medication to treat epilepsy, and any antipsychotic medication or medication to treat psychoses.

Always inform your doctor of any medications you are taking (including vitamins, herbal supplements, and over the counter medications) before embarking on a new treatment. Additional medications not listen here may interact negatively with your medication.

Do not take more than your recommended dosage. Take missed doses as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next treatment.

Keep medication in a cool, dry place away from heat and moisture. Dispose of any unused medication past the point of expiry. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
