Albenza (Generic)

Generic Albenza is classified as an anthelmintic, a type of drug made to kill and expel parasitic worms from the body. As a benzimidazole anthelmintic, Generic Albenza works to target worm infestations, eliminating their spread, growth and contamination, and clears up any infection related complications. Generic Albenza effectively starves contaminating worms, diminishing their ability to absorb sugar-causing them to simply die out. This medication works on a number of worm infestations including, but not limited to, tapeworms, capillariasis, roundworm, hookworms, pinworms, whipworms, and many other flatworms and nematodes. Generic Albenza may also be used to treat Hydatid disease (echinococcosis), and pork tapeworm infections affecting the nervous system (neurocysticercosis). The average dose of Generic Albenza (400mg) pill for treatment of hydatid disease (tapeworm) and neurocysticercosis (pork worm) is one oral tablet administered twice daily for a period of 28 days. This dosage is indicated for patients weighing over 60 kg (132 lbs). Those under the indicated weight are asked to contact their doctor for a more appropriate dosage for their weight.

Prolonging treatment may be required should infection persist after the initial 28 days of drug administration. Patients must wait 14 days between stating a new cycle of administration. See your doctor before deciding to start a new cycle of the Generic Albenza treatment. Unless a medical professional indicates otherwise, always complete a full treatment of this medication, even if you feel that infection has cleared before the 28 day period.

Do not take more than your recommended dosage of Generic Albenza. If you forget to take your regularly scheduled dosage, take one as soon as you remember; however if it is nearly time for your next portion, do not double your dosage.

Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep away from children and pets.
