Abilify (Generic)

Generic Abilify is an atypical antipsychotic drug, used by medical specialists to treat mental disorders in patients. U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the medication for the purpose of treating maniac depressions and schizophrenia.

Other uses include psychotic conditions such as mood swings and temper tantrums, as well as aggression and irritability. Not recommended for dementia-related psychotic conditions.

Take Generic Abilify only as prescribed by your doctor by swallowing the entire tablet during meals or otherwise. Do not change the dosage of medication without prior medical consult. The period of taking the drug should not exceed 6 weeks, unless directly prescribed by your doctor.

Generic Abilify is not recommended to treat dementia-related psychotic conditions, which may lead to the increased risk of death in older adults. The medication is also not recommended for patients having high blood sugar. If you have diabetes or are in a high-risk group (e.g. a family history of diabetes), your blood sugar should be taken before and regularly during the treatment.

In case of an allergic reaction to Generic Abilify, you might experience heavy breathing, swollen lips and tongue, itching, and allergic rash. Stop taking the medication immediately and get emergency medical help.

Common side effects of Generic Abilify include: nausea and vomiting, sleeping problems, drowsiness, blurred vision, restlessness, digestions problems.

Notify your doctor beforehand if you have or had any of the following conditions: diabetes or high blood sugar (should be taken before and during the treatment), seizures (convulsions), low or high blood pressure, heart rhythm problems or a heart disease, low white blood cell count, epilepsy, breast cancer history, liver or kidney diseases, high cholesterol level, phenylketonuria, any other major medical conditions.

Generic Abilify has not been proven to have harmful effects on unborn babies or to pass into breast milk. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding (or planning to), consult your doctor before starting to take Generic Abilify.

Your doctor should also be notified of any medications you are or have been taking recently, including herbal and non-prescription ones.

It is not recommended to drink alcohol while using Generic Abilify as it might aggravate certain side effects. Taking Generic Abilify requires additional efforts to stay well hydrated and avoid overheating. Drink plenty of liquids, especially in the hot weather and during workouts, and monitor your hydration level on a regular basis. Consult your doctor before combining Generic Abilify with sleeping pills or sedatives.

If you have missed your dose of Generic Abilify, make sure to take it as soon as possible. However, two doses should never be taken at the same time, so if the time for the next dose has almost come, DO NOT take the dose you have missed.

Generic Abilify tablets should be stored at the temperatures between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C), well out of reach of children and pets.
